Here is the latest cycling news from PTBA:

Cookie Ride - August 1. Do you like to eat home made cookies and ride a bike?  Then the third annual Cookie Ride is for you!  All you need is a desire to have fun, a bicycle (or cart) and a helmet, and an appetite for home made cookies!! The ride takes place at the North Beach Park August 1st at 1:30. Families, kids, young people, and veteran riders are invited to ride this course (about 18 miles of roads and trails)  while meeting new friends. Remember no cookies are served until the ride leader, Phil Walkden finishes and he is usually about last. Questions for Phil - ptbike@olympus.net or 385-5979.

Ride The Hurricane - August 1. Limit 200 riders, $25/pp. This is a recreational bicycle ride using Hurricane Ridge Road in Olympic National Park. The Park has agreed to close the road to traffic until noon providing participants a unique cycling experience. The celebration of the ride will end in the parking lot at the top of Hurricane Ridge. Bike for Pie - August 15. You are cordially invited to join dozens of other cyclists to ride, socialize and eat pie August 15 on Bainbridge Island. Squeaky Wheels is staging the seventh annual Bike for Pie ride. Registration is now available online at Active.com (search for zip code 98110 or Bike for Pie). Registration will be limited and advance registration is recommended. There will be two routes - a family friendly 12-mile ride and a challenging 28-mile ride. Two pie stops for the challenge riders; stop 1 on Day Road will have savory pies crafted from ingredients provided by local farmers. Stop 2 on the  water at Fort Ward State Park will have fruit pies from local bakeries. One stop for the family riders. Proceeds benefit Squeaky Wheels and Friends of the Farm, a group supporting sustainable agriculture. We hope all of your members can join us for what is a wonderful day of ridin' and eatin'. That's what it is all about, right?

Entry price is $15 up to August 1 and $20 after that date for the challenge ride; family ride is $5/$8

Bainbridge Island Kiwanis Summer Challenge Bike Ride - August 28. If you have ridden the Chilly Hilly, you will appreciate riding roughly the same course in the opposite direction in our mild mid-August weather! Ride either the 35 mile Summer Challenge or the 13 mile Family Challenge.

Ride at your own pace through urban, suburban and country roads and stop anytime you feel like sightseeing! You are on island time. You will ride along beautiful shorelines with their cool breezes and spectacular views and on country roads through towering forests. Come for the ride and stay the weekend!

Biking for a good cause! Ride for Charity! Registration proceeds will go to the Bainbridge Island Kiwanis Foundation, a 501(c) (3) charitable organization, to be used for youth oriented charity projects. See www.bikiwanis.org
