WHY JOIN PTBA?
Club rides, meeting new riding friends, and enjoying this fabulous place for cycling!
We ride, but we also realize that without a voice in the political issues that affect cyclists, we'll have nowhere to ride. Here's a few advocacy highlights:
- 8 foot shoulders on the rebuild Hood Canal Bridge
- Bicycle lanes on SR 20/Sims Way in Port Townsend
- Bicycle Symbol on traffic signal loop detectors on local Port Townsend streets
- Jefferson Transit Ad Campaign: Share the Road, Same Roads, Same Rights, Same Rules
- Bicycle safety and free helmet programs
- Re-evaluation of the blanket helmet law in PT
- Efforts to prevent or reduce the use of rumble strips on touring routes
- Attempted to allow cyclists during construction on Hurricane Ridge Road
- A voice in regional transportation planning
- Bicycling the Olympic Peninsula Maps
- PTBA members can qualify for the corporate membership rate at the Port Townsend Athletic Club, located at 229 Monroe, across from Memorial Field. The club is expanding (there's a rumor that spin bikes will be added soon!). The corporate rate is available for both individuals and families and offers a significant savings over the regular club rates. If you are interested in joining the Athletic Club, email PTBA President Jane Whicher at pres@ptbikes.org or PTAC Corporate Membership Director John Hayes at jfhayes@gmail.com for a brochure describing the club services and its rates, or check the club website at www.ptathletic.com. You must have a current PTBA membership to take advantage of this offer, so this is a good time to renew your membership as well.
Please join us and help make PT and the Olympic Peninsula cycling safe and accessible!
